Keriba Ad/Ngoelmun Gidhal

Keriba Ad/Ngoelmun Gidhal literally means 'Our Stories' in the traditional languages of the Torres Strait - Meriam Mir and Kala Lagaw Ya.

This cultural maintenance exhibition exlpored a range of stories identified by each of the communities in the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area that are either culturally or historically significant. Stories range from traditional mythology, pre-European contact (pre 1800s) to recent history (1900s) and contemporary times.

The first exhibition in the newly renovated Ephraim Bani Gallery, Keriba Ad/Ngoelmun Gidhal: Our Stories represented just a sample of the Torres Strait's rich cultural history.
