Butal Ina Ngapa Buy

Butal Ina Ngapa Buy tells the grassroots story of Torres Strait Islanders and their sentimental relationships with the luggers that served one of our region's largest historical industries.

The exhibition, which translates as 'the luggers are coming', tells a lesser-known, more intimate side of the Torres Strait's well-known pearling history and was developed by our very own curatorial team with the support of the Queensland Museum.

Featuring the commissioned works of celebrated local artists including Segar Passi, Alick Tipoti, George Mosby and Erub Arts, as well as historical images and audio visual displays, Butal Ina Ngapa Buy is on show now in our Ephraim Bani Gallery.
