Exhibitions

Through two gallery spaces Gab Titui presents exhibitions of importance to the Torres Strait and its people. The Ephraim Bani Gallery is dedicated to the display of historical Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal artefacts and cultural heritage material, while the open plan Wabunaw Geth Gallery exhibits contemporary artworks by local Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal artists.

Artists

The Gab Titui Cultural Centre supports more than 100 artists across the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area of Australia. The centre has a Gallery Shop that provides an outlet for the ethical sale and promotion of Torres Strait artists and their work, maintaining at least 70 percent of local Indigenous product. The sales made through Gab Titui create economic opportunities for local Indigenous artists, as a large percentage of the earnings are directly returned to them, with the remaining amount reinvested into the operations of the centre. The Gab Titui Cultural Centre supports local Indigenous artists to ensure that all the sales proceeds go back into the Torres Strait community.

Art Centres

Gab Titui runs an arts development program that services artists and art centres in the Torres Strait region. There are three incorporated and independent art centres currently based in the Torres Strait. These are Badhulgaw Kuthinaw Mudh on Badu Island, Erub Erwer Meta located on Erub (Darnley Island) and Ngalmun Lagau Minaral which is based on Moa Island in the community of Kubin.

Gab Titui Art Materials Project

The Art Materials Project allows the Gab Titui Cultural Centre to sell art materials to local Indigenous artists at cost price. We encourage all local Indigenous artists to take this fantastic opportunity to purchase the quality art materials and exhibit some of your finest artwork here at the Gab Titui Cultural Centre.
