People’s Choice Award

Congratulations Tony Harry, winner of the People’s Choice Award in the 2015 Gab Titui Indigenous Art Award.

Tony’s work, Waru Pingerr Ya Alali (Turtle Caught in a Net), depicts the danger that discarded fishing nets, or ghost nets, pose to the marine environment.  It was selected by the public for the People’s Choice Award for its striking use of 3D elements on canvas, texture, and message of warning.

As winner of the People’s Choice Award, Tony will receive $1,500 in prize money.  Congratulations to all Gab Titui Indigenous Art Award participants, whose works will be on display until Friday, 21 August 2015.
